Fall Campus Day 2025

December 10, 2025 by Fionn McPhee and Kai Herzog-Hara

November 15th, 2025 was Fall Campus Day at U of T St. George, a large event hosted annually by the Faculty of Arts and Science that includes college tours, campus tours, and program fairs.

The Linguistics Department was at Hart House for the Humanities Program Fair. We spoke with over 150 prospective students and their families about career prospects and the benefits of linguistics training as part of a university experience. We hope to see many of them joining the Linguistics program as they start their studies at U of T in the coming years.

We had LIN trivia for students to learn more about what linguistics is and some fun facts about different languages. Prizes included donuts and samosas!

We are looking forward to our next opportunity to connect with new students at February's Program Exploration Fair in Sidney Smith! The Linguistics Department will also be hosting an Open House as part of Program Exploration Week for students interested in joining our Linguistics Major, Specialist, and Minor programs.

Thank you to our upper year volunteers: Chris Gonzales (not pictured), Laura Paniccia (centre), Octavia Mok, (not pictured), Miriam Bezner-Kerr (not pictured), and Elyse Wong (right) and SLUGS for helping run a successful table and introducing high school students to the field of linguistics!
