On February 26th, the Linguistics department took part in the annual Arts & Science Program Exploration Days, where we talked to students before program selection to get them excited about linguistics.
Thank you to SLUGS for helping us table this event!
The Linguistics Program Open House took place on March 5th and featured a presentation about the structure of the minor, major, and specialist programs. It also gave students a chance to talk with professors about the different classes available, as well as research opportunities. The department also had a table at the Global Languages Initiative’s Language and Culture Day on March 6th, where we represented American Sign Language and the field of linguistics.
On March 19th, the department collaborated with Slice of Vic to host a program selection event for Victoria College students. In attendance were Professors Pedro Mateo Pedro, Pocholo Umbal, and Nathan Sanders, as well as Undergraduate Assistant Kai Herzog-Hara and members of the Society of Linguistics Undergraduate Students.
Thank you to everyone who came to our program selection events and we hope to see you many of you again in linguistics classes next year!
