Between August and September 2025, sevaral graduate students successfully defended their dissertations:
Koorosh Ariyaee defended his dissertation, Reduced forms and their representation in the mental lexicon. His examining committee comprised of Profs. Jessamyn Schertz and Philip Monahan (co-supervisors), Alexei Kochetov (committee member), Samuel Akinbo (internal-external examiner), Yoonjung Kang (internal-external examiner), and Chandan Narayan (external appraiser, York University).
Tim Gadanidis defended his dissertation, Putting the mask: Language work, ideology, and resistance in restaurant servers' stories from the COVID-19 pandemic. His examining committee consisted of Profs. Derek Denis (supervisor), Atiqa Hachimi (committee member), Barend Beekhuizen (committee member), Samantha Jackson (internal-external examiner), Jack Sindell (internal-external examiner), and Michael Bamberg (external appraiser, Clark University).
Robert Prazeres defended his dissertation, Parallel variables: A comparative variationist approach to genitive variation in Moroccan and Saudi Arabic. His examining committee included Profs. Atiqa Hachimi (supervisor), Naomi Nagy (committee member), Arsalan Kahnemuyipour (committee member), Derek Denis (internal-external examiner), Pocholo Umbal (internal-external examiner), and Lotfi Sayahi (external appraiser, University of Albany).
